PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS
This year we have 6 different People’s Choice Awards special categories to enter in the Canning Show Exhibition, with $100 in prize money going to the exhibit in each award category/class that receives the most votes from visitors to the Canning Show 2024, plus the usual points and money prizes being awarded to the three exhibits in EACH section that the judges deem to be the best.
That means there’s a total pool of $600 available to those celebrating the Camelid-themed Canning Show.

GENERAL RULES
No more than one exhibit can be entered for each People’s Choice Awards / Challenge, however one entrant may enter different exhibits in each People’s Choice Awards / Challenge.
- Unless stated otherwise, ALL other rules and By-Laws apply for each People’s Choice Awards / Challenge.
- Unless stated otherwise, open to all ages.
CHALLENGES
Home Cooking Challenge: Middle Eastern Inspired
- Produce a treat using Dates (considered the world’s oldest cultivated fruit) as the main ingredient.
- Present 4 individual pieces on disposable plate or tray.
- Provide name of the treat and ingredients.
- General rules, prizes and points of the Home Cooking section apply.
- Class 6100 People’s Choice – Home Cooking Challenge.
Craft Challenge: One Hump Or Two?
- Your piece can be buttoned, stitched, knitted embellished, constructed,
stamped, stuffed, crocheted, painted, glazed or moulded. - Whatever your choice of craft it must relate to the theme of the year.
- General rules, prizes and points relating to your craft apply.
- Size restrictions of 50cm x 50cm x 50cm apply.
Ideas include:
• A colourful saddle blanket
• Paper maché model camel
• Knitted item using Alpaca fleece
• Lego model

Painting & Drawing Challenge: The Ship Of The Desert
- Create a painting or drawing showcasing Year of the Camelids 2024.
- Any medium may be used.
- Open to all artists (over 18 years).
- General Rules of Painting and Drawing section apply.
- Class 10050 People’s Choice – Painting & Drawing Challenge.
Flower Hall Challenge: An Oasis In The Desert
- Open to all ages (i.e. youth and adults).
- Present 2 varieties of succulents displaying different colours.
- General rules of the flower section apply.
- Size – not to exceed 25cm in diameter.
- Class 4500 People’s Choice – Flowers Challenge
Photography Challenge: Year of Camelids
- Create an image featuring camelids.
- Colour enlargement 20cm x 25cm.
- Open to non-professional photographers only.
- General rules of Photography section apply.
- Class 11050 People’s Choice – Photography Challenge.
Youth Challenge: A Camelid Adventure
- Open to ages 9-12 years only.
- Create a diorama scene in a shoe box or similar, which tells a story about camelids.
- Use of purchased objects such as toys to enhance your creation is allowed.
- General rules of the youth section apply.
- Size – not to exceed 50cm x 50cm x 50cm.
It is your own creation, but consider some of these following ideas:

• Textiles (fleece)
• Food production (meat & dairy)
